SUSTAINABILITY & INNOVATION

Sustainability

At Sunspire, sustainability is not a slogan — it’s a responsibility embedded into every decision we make. Located in the ecologically rich Bay of Plenty, our orchard is managed with a deep respect for the land, water, and biodiversity around us. We prioritise soil health, minimise chemical use, and protect native ecosystems, ensuring that our farming practices regenerate rather than deplete. Sustainability for us means producing nutrient-dense fruit while leaving the land better than we found it.

Our zero-waste philosophy ensures that nothing is wasted — from repurposing organic matter into nutrient-rich compost to using rainwater and bore water efficiently through targeted irrigation. By investing in renewable energy, on-site recycling, and eco-conscious packaging, we aim to close every loop possible. Sustainability is not just how we grow, but how we live, build, and plan for future generations.

Innovation

Innovation at Sunspire goes beyond adopting the latest tools — it’s about reimagining what’s possible in modern horticulture. We leverage advanced technologies such as precision sensors, AI-driven crop monitoring, and automated systems to optimise yield, reduce input waste, and improve fruit quality. Our approach blends traditional orchard wisdom with data science to make every tree count and every season smarter than the last.

We’re also future-focused — integrating solar energy to reduce our carbon footprint, trialling robotics to ease labour dependency, and continuously exploring how emerging technologies can enhance both environmental and economic outcomes. At Sunspire, innovation is not an add-on; it’s a core value that drives continuous improvement, resilience, and leadership in the horticultural space
